The TEll// By Thrift & Tell

Welcome to THE TELL//BY THRIFT & TELL: a celebration of fashionable women who dress as smart as they shop.

This week’s guest on THE TELL// is Liz Eichholz: Co-Founder and Creative Director of Weezie Towels. Liz and I met a few months ago in Nashville, and I was so impressed by her passion for and dedication to her brand. Weezie is incredibly customer centric. Liz and her team spend hours with client focus groups, painstakingly dissecting feedback to better understand how to make the perfect towel, robe, bath mat, etcetera. Focusing on quality and the customer is how you create a cult following, and Weezie has done just that. When it comes to her closet, Liz proudly embraces her love of a good deal. She, like so many of us, is thoughtful about where she spends her money and categorizes a “splurge” as anytime she pays full price. She is no stranger to the world of consignment either, and she uses sites like Poshmark to both clear out her closet and fill in gaps with pre-loved treasures. How very T&T! I am very excited to have Liz be part of this series and look forward to seeing what is to come for Liz and the Weezie brand. Enjoy!

//Best Fashion Advice You Ever Received:  Don’t take yourself too seriously!

//Types of clothing you invest in: : Anything I feel like I will wear A LOT, my favorite way to defend a costly purchase to myself is “price per wear” ;) or anything I wear to a speaking engagement or when I need a little boost of confidence–it always works!

//Types of clothing you save on: Anything overly trendy.

//Your greatest extravagance: Towel time of course! I am extra when it comes to scheduling self-care. My latest favorite indulgence is using zeel at home massage app on nights when we haven’t booked a sitter for our 2 year old.

//Your Closet Tried and Trues: Gucci loafers,  Mother high wasted jeans, a striped button-down, with lots of gold necklaces (currently loving anything from Mejuri)

//Best investment you ever made in your style:  Gucci loafers

//Style Choice From Your Past That Haunts You: Bandage skirts in college...

//Closet From Which You Would Like to Borrow: Caroline MaGuire, the ShopBop fashion director or Olivia Palmero

//Last Time You Splurged?  For me a “splurge” these days is buying something full price–I am a bargain shopper at heart! But I have been loving anything La Linge. SOME things are worth paying full price for…

 //Currently Saving Your Pennies For:  Stuff for our house! We are about to renovate a carriage house from the 1900’s in our backyard so all pennies are being saved for that.

//A Deal for the History Books/Your T&T Personal Best: : A Chanel purse I had restored that I found for $200 at a vintage store in Athens, GA

//Advice to someone looking to define their own style: Wear what brings you joy! Your style will develop over time and you will get better and better at defining what you like on your body and what you don’t. But don’t take it all too seriously and give yourself room to explore.

//Trend you wish would go away? The small pointy sunglasses.... This tweet from Mindy Kahling always makes me laugh on the subject

//You feel great. What are you wearing? A flowly boho Ulla Johnson dress with stappy Loeffler Randall sandals during summer

//Occasions when you splurge:  A speaking engagement, a work event –I get such a surge in confidence (and joy) when I love what I’m wearing.

//Occasions when you save: Whenever I can!

//Most prized possession:  A ring my mom gave me when I turned 16, it was her push present when I was born! Also a Hermes scarf that is not technically “mine” but on long term borrow from my mom’s closet.

 //Home Decor Style: Transitional – I love a mix of masculine and feminine, traditional and modern, patterns and solids, etc.

//Favorite place to hunt for home decor: Anywhere my interior designer, Robyn Roberts tells me to ;) I’m officially incapable of making decisions without her.

//Go-to for unique items, whether it be clothing, accessories, home or art:  I’ve found some seriously amazing artists on Etsy. I went to art school and minored in painting and have such a love for art and discovering new artists. Recent fav is also a best friend (and Weezie model): M Studio. And, of course, Weezie–towels are an important element of your home whether your motto is more is more or less is more.

//Your fashion motto: Wear the things you love and don’t save anything! I am a big supporter or constant closet clean outs. Less is more and I find the less I have in my closet, the more I grab for the things I actually love (and they’re easier to find)!

//Your life motto: We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. With a business and a baby (and #2 on the way!), you have no other choice than to just deal with things as they come or you are asking for lots of meltdowns.

Fill in the blank:

//A woman should invest in-  good towels ;) (Insert: Weezie) //You’re never too old to—have fun. //A woman can never have too much- much good denim. // Bury Me In: a Weezie robe. //True or False: More is More- True, most of the time. //Fashion is- ever-changing. //Style is: personal.

Currently Loving:

//Music: Christmas Music!

//Print: I live for print magazines–Veranda is a personal favorite

//Food:  I’m pregnant and it’s been all about baked potatoes...

//Drink: Missing ALL the drinks–dirty martinis and Palomas

//Film: Introducing my daughter, Tempe to so many great movies right now. We just watched Lady & The Tramp and Toy Story!

//TV: Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

//Podcast:  Second Life + The Goop Podcast

//Instagram Handle:  @aha_books

//Designer:   La Linge

ABOUT LIZ

Almost a decade after first meeting through mutual friends, Liz Eichholz bought a new house and Lindsey Johnson got engaged, and both were on the hunt for towels. Buying new ones proved to be daunting – if they weren’t put off by mediocre quality, embroidery lead times, or astronomical price tags, they felt overwhelmed by jargon. GSM? Zero twist? They wanted a brand they could trust, and towels that looked as great as they felt.

In October 2018, after a year and half of research and development, Weezie was born.

Weezie Creative Director, Liz Eichholz, was born and raised in Austin, Texas. After receiving a BFA in graphic design from the University of Georgia, she spent 5 years in New York working on in-house Creative teams for media organizations. Liz currently resides in Savannah, Georgia with her husband and two-year-old daughter (and second on the way!)
